Michael Murphy is a consultant who informs and empowers his clients on using science and policy analysis, communications, and public engagement strategies to build their businesses and meet their organizational objectives. He has expertise in biological and physical sciences, resource economics, regulatory policy, communications and consumer behavior.
MIchael has worked for a wide variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Recent clients include Costco, PharmerSea, Morro Bay National Estuary Program, Fish Reef Project, Pacific Coast Sportfishing Magazine, and Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. Michael is currently advising the California aquaculture industry and serving on a California Department of Fish and Wildlife committee on recreational fishing participation.
During his 25-year career, he has led a non-profit advocating for sustainable water use in California, served as communications director for a Stanford University environmental institute, and worked in a variety of science and public relations positions for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (aka NOAA). He began his carerr by studying consumer and industry preferences for seafood products and working as a deckhand on recreational fishing boats.
In his spare time, Mike loves to cook, fish, dive, travel and explore the outdoors with his wife and two daughters.
